- An LED flag on your porch is a great way to invite people inside, or let people know where the party is.
- Colorful beads, lights, and a vase come together to make great centerpieces. Layer the coins and traditional beads however you’d like!
- Recycle old beads and make unique coasters with felt and craft glue. Choose bead strands with unique medallions on them to make each one unique.
- Go all out with your place settings at a dinner party by using masks, more beads, and festive napkins. If you know your guests well, personalize a place setting by using a mask that suits them well.
- Of course, no Mardi Gras is complete without King Cake. Follow this easy recipe, put a trinket inside the cake, and see which guest finds it!

Event at all locations!
Don’t miss out on our annual Ladies’ Night on Thursday, October 18th from 5-9 p.m. at all of our locations, and it’s sure to be a good time! We began the party years ago as a way to say “thank you” to our customers, and have continued the tradition ever since. It’s an intimate, laid-back event just like a private party—one year we had more than 50 women singing “I Feel Like a Natural Woman”! The event will feature our amazing fall and Christmas decor, and include music, appetizers, cocktails, how-tos, sales, discounts and visiting artists, and each Paul Michael Company location is putting its own personalized twist on the party.
Award-winning designer and gardener, P. Allen Smith is taking on a Garden Home Challenge that some might say is nearly impossible. Allen is attempting to build a 1,600 square foot eco-friendly home in only 150 days! But wait, that’s not all. He is attempting to do this with only $150,000!
You can follow Allen through this sustainable home building adventure by tuning in to Allen’s eHow Home Channel on YouTube. See how he is saving energy and saving dollars during each step of the process, which has already been filled with numerous successes, failures and re-dos.
All of us here at Paul Michael Company are following Allen’s challenge not only because we are fascinated by his ambition and hoping to learn a few things ourselves, but because Allen is relying on Paul Michael Company to meet his decorating needs while staying within his budget! We can’t wait to see what the final product will look like with all of the lamps, tables, chairs and other furniture pieces from Paul Michael Company!
We hope some of our customers and friends in Monroe, Louisiana were able to make the recent production of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” at the Strauss Theatre Center. Performances were held on July 19-22 and 26-29, and the reviews were stellar!
The local talent that came together to form the cast got high praises for doing such a wonderful job of bringing the colorful story of America’s favorite candy man to the stage. The audience found themselves laughing and clapping throughout the entire production!
Paul Michael Company was overjoyed to participate in the production in their own way by lending accessories to decorate the Strauss Theatre lobby. Our friend and the Vice President of Hospitality and Volunteers at the theater, Bobbette Prince, came to the Paul Michael Company store in Monroe, Louisiana and used her fantastic eye to pick out just what they needed to transform the lobby into a wacky Wonka wonderful!
If you were unable to make this production, there will be another chance to see local talent perform another classic with the production of “Cats” in October. All of us at Paul Michael Company can’t wait! We’re even practicing with our own kitties, Autumn and Guizmo, just in case they need any stand-ins!
If you are interested in supporting the Arts in Monroe, you can participate in the Strauss Theatre membership drive that is currently underway by calling 318-323-6681.
