Repurposing items into home decor is a wonderful way to recycle while adding a unique personal touch to interiors. If you have been inspired by the popular industrial rustic look, here are some fantastic ways to repurpose antique wire baskets from Paul Michael Company into unique, shabby-chic decor.
Hang a wire basket over a dining table and fill it with candles to create a beautiful DIY chandelier.
Make it a mobile centerpiece for a coffee table; fill it with a couple of books and flowers.
Use wire baskets in the kitchen for accessible storage that will keep the space feeling specious and open.
Keep a wire basket in a bathroom to store towels or extra rolls of TP for guests.
Brooke recently picked up this wire basket from one of the Paul Michael Company stores, and one of our staff members suggested she use it as a wall hanging and attach pictures to it with mini close pins. Thanks for sharing this on our Facebook page, Brooke; it looks great!

We’re expanding! The support we’ve received from the River Ranch community and our patrons in the greater Lafayette area has given us the opportunity to expand our business into the vacant retail space adjacent to our current location in River Ranch. On Friday, August 3rd, 2012 at 10:00am the Chamber of Commerce will join us for the ribbon cutting of the new addition. The 8,000 sq ft expansion now makes the Paul Michael Company in Lafayette just over 31,000 sq ft and highlights our exclusive furniture line, made in Arkansas, out of locally harvested and reclaimed woods. We are especially proud that much of the reclaimed materials used in our furniture production are architectural pieces salvaged from South Louisiana. For more information, call our home office or find us on Facebook under The Paul Michael Company. Grand Opening festivities will continue after hours on Friday, August 3rd from 5-8pm. We hope to see you then!
From exercising to reading and mediation, there are many things we do for our mind and soul. Now, there’s one more you can do. Take your pet shopping with you at Paul Michael Company. Here at Paul Michael Company, we know that your pets are an important part of your family, so why leave them at home when you are shopping for items that will enhance your home? Or why forgo a visit to a Paul Michael Company store when you are traveling with your pet?
Research has shown that pets are not only good for our hearts, mind and soul, but they also reduce the risk of allergies, asthma and anxiety. Pets even provide wonderful opportunities for making love connections!
We recently came across an inspiring news feature on a retail shop in North Carolina that allows all employees to bring their pets to work even with the store’s collection of crystal and china! Like this retail store, we truly believe in the benefits of having pets in the workplace. What better way is there to keep the stress monsters away than with our favorite furry friend?
These are all reasons why all four Paul Michael Company stores are pet-friendly! Not to mention many of our customers are visiting one of our stores in their travels, and we wouldn’t want them to miss out on great items for their home!
So do something good for you, your pet and your home with a fun shopping adventure to the Paul Michael Company location near your hometown or in your travels.

- The handcrafted look: Artisan and handmade items add personal touches to interiors with character and charm.
- Cool gray tones and patinas: The popularity of gray palettes shows no sign of slowing down. Check out our previous post on How to Decorate with this Popular Neutral.
- Industrial style lighting made of recycled object s: This shabby chic lighting trend has bulbs going bare, and we love it! Plus, we love any opportunity to repurpose materials.
- Exotic finishes and patterns: Eclectic decor inspired by Moroccan designs and Arabic architecture are proving to be a fun way to add color, texture and interest.
- Tufted furniture: Button up your sofas and chairs because tufted furniture is in. Sounds like a great DIY project!

Armed with a bottle of spray paint, you can transform any old item into stunning home decor in minutes! Paul Michael Company has been spray painting up a storm for the DIY Project of the Month where we are showing customers, readers and followers just how easy it is to create stylish decor by reviving old items with a fresh coat of paint. Take a look at these before and after photos of the merchandise we spray painted at the Paul Michael Company store in Lake Village, Arkansas.
Still not convinced that you can achieve elegant white or black wire baskets or vibrant blue eclectic lanterns like these on your own? Here are a few spray painting tips from fellow creative DIY decorator Becky Higgins that will get you started and help you get the best results.
- The best spray paint for indoor or outdoor items made of wicker, metal, wood and even slick surfaces are Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch: Ultra Cover Coverage, found at Home Depot or on Amazon for only$3.50 per can.
- To avoid the midday summer heat from negatively affecting how the paint dries, plan to spray paint outside in the early morning, preferably on a day when it is not too windy.
- Be sure to use a primer on items with slick surfaces; apply a final clear coat on items that will be handled often.
Seeing a customer leave the Paul Michael Company store with a huge smile on their face is one of our favorite parts about working here! So when our customers asked us to extend our Summer Annual Sale, how could we say no?
Due to the volume of calls and emails we received last week, we have decided to extend the Paul Michael Company Summer Annual Sale by 7 extra days! We wanted to make sure all those that were traveling over the 4th of July holiday had a chance to come by the store before the sale ends. So, the sale will now continue at all four store locations until the 15th of July.
And not only do you have a whole additional week to enjoy these fantastic savings, but you also have even more discounted merchandise to choose from. All merchandise is at least 25% off and there are new items that have been marked 50% off as well. Add a visit to the Paul Michael Company store nearest you on your to-do list this week, and you’ll be leaving the store with a huge smile, too!
